The ALA Career Investigator Awards are minority scholarships sponsored by The American Lung Association.

Requirements: Applicant must hold a junior faculty position, be making the transition from junior to mid-level faculty status, have less than nine years of faculty experience, and be working in a field relevant to the conquest of lung disease and the promotion of lung health. Preference is given to minority applicants and applicants interested in tobacco control research.

You should always check out any material provided for the grant. The best shot of achieving your goal is a result of finding out the requirements from the start and then determining if you qualify. Before you even begin, figure out the driving force for the The American Lung Association and what they hope to achieve with the ALA Career Investigator Award. Once that is done, you should determine if you have a decent shot to receive the grant. Once you believe that you have the possibility of going on to be a recipient of the ALA Career Investigator Award, then you should fill out an application.
