Requirements: Applicant must be an Arkansas high school graduate, have a minimum 3.5 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 30 (combined SAT I score of 1320), be a National Merit Finalist or Semifinalist, demonstrate financial need and strong leadership, and select a major in the Sam Walton College of Business Administration.

A good place to start is to carefully examine available information on the fellowship. Your best chance of achieving your goal comes from first understanding the qualifications and then determining if you qualify. At the outset try to recognize the potential motivations of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and their reason for offering the Boyer Fellowship. Once that is done, figure out if there is a reasonable chance of actually getting the fellowship. After figuring out that you have a decent shot of going on to be a recipient of the Boyer Fellowship, then it is useful to use your time.

One critical part in the process of trying for the fellowship is paying close attention to the application. Applications can sometimes be drawn-out and tiresome, but you shouldn't underestimate how important it is that you fill out the application properly and without omission. It would be awful to get passed over on a technicality.
