A good place to start is to spend time looking into any material provided for the grant. Your best chance of obtaining money comes from first understanding the qualifications and making sure you meet them. A good first step is to figure out the driving force for the Cornell University and what they hope to achieve with the Cornell Grant. Once that is done, make sure you have a reasonable chance to receive the grant. Once you believe that you have a decent shot of actually being a recipient of the Cornell Grant, then it is useful to put forth the effort to apply.

One critical aspect in the process of trying for the grant is properly completing the forms. Some forms are drawn-out and tedious, but take the time to make sure that the forms are filled out accurately and completely. It would be awful to be bumped as the result of something that could have been avoided.

After filing, figure out the timeframe regarding when the Cornell Grant chooses a winner and actually dispenses the money so you'll be aware of whether or not you can rely on the grant to provide additional support for your financial needs and what assistance it will provide, stipulations may exist on what expenses are covered by the Cornell Grant. Increasingly, it is tough to be able to handle the expenses associated with school, and having the additional resources of the Cornell Grant to defray some of the costs is often invaluable. If you don't end up getting the Cornell Grant, try not to be upset, search for additional grants and you may find success elsewhere.
