Requirements: Financial need is not considered. Loans are obtained directly from participating banks, credit unions, or other private lenders, or the Federal government. Fee of up to 4% of the loan is assessed. Parents must submit a completed PLUS loan application to the student's school, which is sent to the lender for evaluation. A FAFSA does not have to be filled out to apply for this loan unless required by the school.
