You should always search for the background of the grant. Your best chance of achieving your goal will follow from initially researching the prerequisites and making sure you meet them. A good first step is to seek to understand the reason for involvement of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) Foundation and what they hope to achieve with the Graduate Research Grant. If you meet the requirements, make sure there is a reasonable chance of being awarded the grant. After figuring out that you have a decent shot of going on to be one of the winners of the Graduate Research Grant, then it is worth it to fill out an application.

An important detail of working toward obtaining the grant is properly completing the forms. Applications can sometimes be drawn-out, but it is absolutely critical that you fill out the application properly. Pay careful attention so that you won't be denied as the result of something that could have been avoided.

Once the application is sent off, you should note when the Graduate Research Grant chooses a winner and actually dispenses the resources in order to know whether or not it is possible to count on the grant to provide additional support for your financial needs and how it will help you out, since there might be constraints in what can be paid with the Graduate Research Grant. You might find it challenging to find ways to manage the expenses associated with school, and having the additional resources of the Graduate Research Grant to assist with your expenses can be a huge help. If you are not fortunate to receive the Graduate Research Grant, try not to be upset, there will be alternative grants and you may find success elsewhere.
