Requirements: Applicant must be a North Carolina resident. Priority given first to children of a sheriff or deputy sheriff, then to children of any law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty, then to children of any sheriff or deputy sheriff who is deceased or retired, and then to criminal justice majors with high GPAs and financial need. Applicant must submit letter of recommendation from sheriff in his or her county of residence, transcript, and documentation of criteria.
